Description: Thousands of African immigrants fleeing conflict and torture, are risking their lives travelling through the Sinai desert, hoping to cross the border into Israel for a new start. Subscribe to our channel for more Unreported World episodes youtube.com/unreportedworld. For years, access to the desert - a vast no man's land, sparsely populated by Bedouin nomads - has been severely restricted. But post-revolutionary Egypt provided an opportunity for an Unreported World crew to investigate an issue that would have otherwise been impossible to cover. Reporter Ramita Navai meets the smugglers facilitating the dangerous journey, and the Eritrean migrants paying vast amounts of money to escape one of the most repressive regimes in the world.
